The photographs are taken of a performance for the camera on Mitre Lake that is situated at the base of Mount Arapiles and Mitre Rock in Victoria’s Mallee region.

This salt lake whilst natural is symbolic of the increasing number of salt lakes that occur through drought and climate change.

The missionary is a reminder of our colonial past whose impacts are felt in the land and the umbrella character is a response to the overwhelming vast expanse of nature that diminishes the figure who is either absorbed or emerging from the earth.
